GMS 8th graders got a dose of reality when RealityU came to visit. Students were given careers, salaries and family details based on their GPAs and how they answered certain questions.
Students then travelled to various stations to secure housing, decide on insurance, purchase transportation, determine childcare, budget for food, entertainment and clothing/hygiene essentials and more. If their expenses exceeded their monthly pay they had to revisit stations to change some of their previous housing and vehicle choices, reduce their extracurricular activities budgets, or choose additional side jobs.
Students learned valuable lessons and it sounds like they gained a greater respect for their parents/guardians, an appreciation for how much cost of living is, and how their choices now can affect their futures.
Thank you to all of our volunteers, fantastic guest speaker who shared information on Internet and Social Media safety, and GHS student ambassadors who provided words of wisdom and advice with the students.

Mrs. Waters and several 8th grade Yearbook staff members travelled to Challenger this week to share a little bit about Goddard Middle School and to help this year's 6th grade students choose their electives for next school year.
