DARE, which stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a school program that teaches students how to make safe and healthy choices. A key part of the program is called “Keeping it REAL,” which stands for Refuse, Explain, Avoid, and Leave. These four strategies help students know what to do if someone pressures them to make an unsafe choice. Through DARE, students learn about the risks of drugs, alcohol, and vaping while also building confidence and leadership skills. The goal is to help young people feel prepared to make smart decisions, stay safe, and respect themselves and others as they grow. Approximately 32 students from both GMS and EMS participated.
