Welcome to 7th Grade Science

In 7th grade science we mainly focus on life science.  We will look at the structure, function, adaptation, and diversity of organisms.  Instead of just leaning science facts and definitions we will be applying concepts that we learn in class to real world situations.  We will also be covering information over physical science topics in preparation for the Kansas State Science Assessment in April.  Our focus in physical science will be Newton's Laws of motion, forces, mass, physical and chemical properties, states of matter, and types of energy.

You can expect a small amount of homework each night.  On a typical night it should not be more than 10 minutes worth of homework.  We will have a test about every week to week and a half.  If you go to the Science Flashcard link I have provided flashcards for the students to print off to help them study for the tests.

I do not offer extra credit in class so it is important for students to do their best on all assignments.  I do allow students to correct tests to help improve their grades.  Students must ask for the corrections and they are expected to do them at school.  Test corrections are not allowed to leave the classroom.  If a student needs more time to get them completed they are welcomed to stay after school and get them finished.

All homework, notes, flashcards, and handouts can be found on the website.  Students can also access the Educational Websites link on the left hand side of this page.

I firmly believe that you can do anything you set your mind to.  I am looking forward to a great and exciting year.

May the force be with you.
