Social Studies 8

This course covers American History from the years 1800-1900. Topics of study include the Louisiana Purchase, the Lewis and Clark expedition, Jacksonian democracy, westward expansion, reforming society, and the Civil War through the reconstruction period. There is also some emphasis on civics, geography and economics. During the year, students practice the following skills: reading, writing, note taking, active interaction with peers and teachers, group projects and test taking.
