Welcome to my website. My name is Melissa Rindt. I teach 7th grade Science at Goddard Middle School. I have been teaching for 17 years and 14 of them have been at Goddard. I attended and graduated from Maize High School. After High School I went to the University of Kansas, GO HAWKS!!!!!! I received my Bachelor's Degree from KU in Middle and Secondary Science and Social Studies Education.
My husband Derek and I have been married for 18 years and we have 2 children. Tara is 14 and is in the 9th grade at GHS. Caleb is 10 and is in 4th grade at Amelia Earhart. Besides raising our two children we also live on a farm. We have three pets. Our pets border collie named Sparkle, our pomerian named Noel, and a cat named Shilo. I love to be busy and this group definitely takes care of my free time.
I try to include my family in most of my hobbies. My favorite hobby is traveling. This summer we took an two trips. First we went to the northeast and visted Ohio, West Virgina, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan and Wisconsin. We were able to see all five of the Great Lakes on this trip. That was exciting. Just before school started we made a quick trip to Nebraska. There we were able to visit all three National Park areas in the state. It allowed for a lot of hiking and we saw some very interesting fossils. Last year we took an amazing trip and traveled to Alaska! We road the train through the center of Alska and saw Mt. Denali, (The hightest mountian in North America.) and so many great animals. I can’t wait to share the pictures with my students in class. There are pictures from our trips on my photo page if you want to take a look. Alaska was beautiful but my favorite place to travel is still Glacier park in Montana. Hopefully one of these summers soon we will get to go back. My children participate in the National Park Systems program called Jr. Rangers. If you haven't heard about it you should check it out. It is a lot of fun when you are visiting the National Parks and kids get to earn badges. My kids have a lot of them. As a family we have set a goal to see all 50 states. Right now our totals are Melissa 46, Derek 46, Tara 41, and Caleb 41 states. We can't wait to go on our next vacation. The only state west of the Mississippi Riber that my children need to visit now is Hawaii. My husband and I went their for our honeymoon. Most of the states we need now are in the Northeast. When we are not traveling I like to spend time scrapbooking, sewing, gardening, working on my genealogy, and reading.
