My name is Andrea Gardner and I am beginning my fourth year teaching middle school choir at both Eisenhower and Goddard Middle School. Before coming to Goddard, I taught middle school choir for eight years in Great Bend, KS. I received my bachelors degree in Music Education from Emporia State University in December 2004. I also received my masters degree in ELL from Newman University in August 2015.
My family is my life. I grew up in Winfield, KS and am the youngest of three children. I have an older brother and sister and they are both involved in teaching. I met my husband, Robby while attending Emporia State University and we just celebrated 13 years of marriage. We have two beautiful children, Lane 10, and Brinley 7. In April we added another member to our family Roxy, an adorable little Morkie (Maltese Yorkie mix). We love to travel as a family. Our favorite vacations spots are Jamaica; Branson, MO; and Winterpark, CO where we ski every year. This July we surprised our kids with their first cruise to Mexico! We had so much fun!!
My hobbies are many and I pick up new ones all the time. I love to workout. Fitness and health are my life. I have completed four half-marathons and one full-marathon. I love to cook, watch movies, play video games, host social events with friends and family, meet new people, do home improvement, watch HGTV, and sing. I also love to travel and a few of my dream vacations would be to tour Europe and take my family on a Beaches Resort vacation. My dream is to retire and move to a Carribean island with my husband.
I come to school excited every day and every year. I love working with middle school students and bringing out their many talents. My goal is to make each minute better and better and allow students to feel safe exploring their voice and performing talents in my classroom. My favorite quote is, "When you can capture a kid's heart, you capture their mind."
